2005 Year One Preceptorship Training Agenda

"Preceptorship Training in the Medical Evaluation of Child Physical and Sexual Abuse"

Sponsored by the Indian Health Service Clinical Support Center

Dates: To be determined individually by student and faculty
Time: Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm
Location: To be determined individually by student and faculty

2005 YEAR ONE AGENDA

Monday
Tour of clinical site and meet staff.
Attend meetings, case/photo review, examinations, court testimony, other as determined by instructor.

Tuesday
Attend meetings, case/photo review, examinations, court testimony, other as determined by instructor.

Wednesday
Attend meetings, case/photo review, examinations, court testimony, other as determined by instructor.

Thursday
Attend meetings, case/photo review, examinations, court testimony, other as determined by instructor.

Friday
Attend meetings, case/photo review, examinations, court testimony, other as determined by instructor.
Closing meeting with instructor to complete required forms, discuss experience.

Objectives:
As a result of having attended this conference, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe how to perform all components of the medical evaluation including specimen collection.
  2. Identify ways the medical provider is used as a resource in the community and what that role is.
  3. Discuss how the multidisciplinary team interacts/functions.
  4. Apply the knowledge gained in the classroom to the care of child victims in the clinical setting.

*NOTE: The daily agenda may vary depending on the learning opportunities that may arise and what the instructor feels the individual student's needs are.
