Brief Description:
Children's Advocacy Center provides 24-hour services for the assessment of abused and neglected children and their families. The Center has two physician FTE's, one physician fellowship FTE, four case manager FTE's, two psychologist FTE's, one Project Director FTE, and one nurse practitioner outreach coordinator FTE. Individual therapy is provided on-site. The Center has two examination/interview rooms and examinations are documented by video photography. The Center sees approximately 1000 cases per year; 700-800 are sexual abuse with the remainder being physical abuse. Its medical providers are called for advice by the major hospitals in the St. Paul/Minneapolis area, and they will make ER visits to the Minneapolis and St. Paul Children's Hospitals. Multidisciplinary team meetings take place weekly, peer review is conducted via teleconferencing and Second Opinion software, and the Center is a member of the National Children's Alliance. Populations served include Caucasian, African American, Latino, Native American, other.
